ABOUT

CURRENT: 

Hello! I'm an author writing both non-fiction and fiction. I took up my passion to write after retiring from a thirty-year career teaching music. I write inspirational short stories, testimonies, observations, and ponderings. My inspiration comes from my surroundings, circumstances, life experiences and events, people, pets, and nature. I write often about poignant moments and relate them to life in general and the spiritual lessons they teach.. I wrote five books of non-fiction before writing my first fiction—THE OLD WOMAN a four book series. Book three was released in spring of 2022. Due to popular demand, a fourth book was written and released in the fall of 2023. Two more nonfiction books and one short story have been published as well.

PAST:

I began music lessons as a child having a deep love for the sound of the piano. As an adult, I studied music in California through a private five-year program, CalPlan, and earned certification in teaching and performance. I ran a private studio in my home teaching piano, as well as bass guitar and soprano recorder.  I also taught classroom music at a private school. I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching career., particularly the one on one environment with private students.

I’ve played piano and bass  guitar for churches and a wide variety of events throughout my life. My musician husband and I have performed together throughout our marriage, in many venues, playing many styles from sacred music to rock. We have served in a number of churches and  currently serve as worship leaders.

HOBBIES and ACTIVITIES:

Aside from writing and music performance, I enjoy reading, am a yarn junkie and enjoy knitting and crochet. I write a lot of paper and pen letters and also enjoy sending and receiving audio emails with friends. I’ve engaged in fitness walking all my life and also enjoy rambling walks for photo taking. 

I enjoy speaking and sharing what I write and why I write. I’ve had the pleasure of being a guest on several radio shows discussing my books. I’ve spoken at book clubs and at book signings. Along with my husband, I participate in local Open Mic nights where I perform musically and speak on writing. 

I’m a member of Christian Writers Sanctuary which meets weekly online with authors from around the world. I’m also a member of a local writers’ group in my small town which meets monthly. 

PERSONAL:

I was born in Ohio and raised in Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, and most significantly Kentucky until age thirteen. My family moved to California in 1970. I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. In 2012 my husband and I chose to move to North Dakota where we make our home with our silver tabby cat, Merri. 

Though I thoroughly enjoy sharing testimonies and my books through speaking,  writing and authorship, and enjoy music performance, I am by nature an introvert and homebody. I seek out and enjoy solitude and quiet days and nights at home with my husband and cat.
